Fraud Alert 2026 Phone Calls

We have been notified by two local businesses of an active phone scammer imitating a Carolina Bank number, (843)292-8484. While the number is owned by Carolina Bank, the scammer is spoofing it to appear as their own. Please be warned that calls from this number may not actually be a Carolina Bank team member.

If you suspect that you've been contacted by a scammer, please contact us in person at your local branch or by using the number printed on the back of your debit card. Official Carolina Bank numbers are listed on our website, carolinabank.net.

Please be aware phone scammers can imitate phone numbers and Caller ID, via various online services and apps. Remember Carolina Bank will never call to request any sensitive information. Do not give out your password, online banking credentials, PINs, card numbers, card expiration date or the three-digit number on the backside of your card (CSC). We will never try to remotely access your personal electronic device and you should not give anyone permission to remotely connect to your machines.

Please notice that any links or text messages delivered with Carolina Bank's name may be suspect to fraud and malicious activity as well. Additionally, if the person in contact mentions alternative payments such as gift cards or cryptocurrency be sure that is a fraudulent contact. Do not allow others to intimidate or coerce you into losing money. When in doubt hang up the call or delete the text, do not engage.

We are always here to help our customers.
